Magnolia Point Club Updates
Golf Course Greens:
The golf course will be closed October 31st to prepare the greens for over-seeding. We appreciate your patience during the grass seed germination and establishment period. During this time, it will be necessary to have regular watering throughout all times of the day. The over-seed, or winter grass, helps to protect our greens while the Bermuda grass is dormant and also helps improve playability during the winter months.
Practice Hole Red #9:
The green on our practice hole, Red #9 was recently vandalized. The perpetrator used a chemical substance to pour all over the green. The grass is now dying and we are not sure if it has reached the root system. If anyone has any information on who might have destroyed the green, please contact the club.
Folds of Honor:
Over the Labor Day holiday, the club participated and helped raise money for the Folds of Honor organization. From the Folds of Honor website: “Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has carried forth this singular, noble mission. To stand in the financial gap of the more than one million dependents adversely affected by war, providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of those killed or disabled while serving our nation.” Magnolia Point golfers contributed a total of $718. We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved.
Course Construction
The Dream Finders construction on Hole #7 is almost complete and the fairway will be sodded. While the newly sodded area grows in, golfers will be playing these areas as Ground Under Repair. We appreciate your patience during the project. The construction crew damaged some irrigation lines, but the project was still able to be completed on time.
Member Golf Tournament
We will be having a member golf tournament on Saturday, November 19, 2016. 9:00 am Shotgun Start. The format: 4 – Person Team Shamble. 2 Best Net of Team. White & Green Tees. (80% Individual handicap). The Pro Shop will be making the teams. Food, Scoring & Awards to follow in the Pub. Entry Fee: $20 pp. Sign up and join us for a great Saturday morning! Deadline for sign up is Thursday, November 17, 2016.
